Words take wing

08/02/2010

Flightless fledgling draped in soft down

cuddling comfort lacking further utility

such are my words to you

having neither tooth nor talon, they mean no harm

Perhaps one day they will stand tall and proud

a powerful wingspan to take high soaring action

chieftains will covet them in their headdress

but that is only the hope that molts away with time

The humble efforts of a pigeon will never make him a condor

destined always to coo sweet nothings unheard

so please be patient with my unhatched fortitude

and hope for innocent words to lead way to magnificent flight

supported on the winds of your heart’s radiance

Count this among the best lines you’ve ever written, in my opinion. Loved the poem from start to finish.

Hope you are doing well, Vic!
