ad continuum

time seems harnessed
a tethered juggernaut
relentlessly pushing forward
yet today lagging
a stutter-step behind

the currents whirlpool
like the hourhands
dancing before advancing
all the while bringing us along

constant and consistent
the tides bring us along
caught in the undertow
with no regard for the entrapped
floating along as mere debris

  1. Love the sounds in this one, echoing each other. It’s interesting that you picked “continuum” rather than “infinitum”… I don’t know what meaning you were conveying, but I know which one I got out of it, and it bears some interested thought. ๐Ÿ™‚

aaahhhh… Joseph, this was trying to depict how I felt whilst hung over. ๐Ÿ˜‰ If it was to be ad infinitum, I don’t think I would be as subtle.
      I appreciate you. Really. Thanks.

Same as Joseph – I like the sounds and rhythm, paricularly the way the poem wraps up at the end.

    particularly, even. Not paricularly.

I like making up new words. Is that a new word? Why is my spell-check not catching that?
